Foraged Food Blog

Please note that it is extremely important to properly identify a plant or mushroom before consuming it.  Some plants and mushrooms have look-alikes/look-similars that can be harmful or even deadly.  Some items can only be eaten in certain seasons, after they are cooked, or only certain parts of the plant may be edible whereas others may be toxic.  It is very important to know, not just the proper identification, but also the proper handling of an item.  It is always best to learn in person from a guide who is knowledgeable about the flora of your region.  It also must be noted that some people are allergic to different items, so always be cautious the first time you try something new.  Medicinal traits of items listed in this blog are based off of traditional uses and/or published research.  I am not a physician and do not make any recommendations for any medicinal uses of the items listed.  You should always check with your healthcare provider prior to changing your treatment plans.
